CARNEGIE PORTER
It is Sweden's oldest active brand.
Carnegie Porter is the beer that has existed for the Swedes since 1836. But the beer actually has a longer history than that.
The whole journey begins when Abraham Robert Lorent started his brewery in Gothenburg at the beginning of the 19th century and the first advertisement in a newspaper for the beer Lorents Porter is from 1817.
Back then you didn't have brands in the same way as today and the product didn't have names or labels. But it was porter that was brewed, says Otto Lundell from the Porter Drinkers Association.
The beer was made with inspiration from London and the breweries that had grown up there.
The beer also had great success in export markets. Among other things, Carnegie had joint distribution with Norwegian Ringnes and Danish Tuborg in New York.
Even in Sweden, the beer spread over large parts of the country.
