The teak is made of silver decorated with 15 amethysts

The sealing wax is intact.

 

Size: 4 cm diameter

 

The relic comes in its custody with a Venetian glass and surrounded by a silver crown of thorns.

 

Several fragments of the Holy Cross are preserved in the main European churches and cathedrals, since in the Middle Ages the popes gave tiny fragments as gifts to princes and emperors to create alliances and strengthen the political stability of the papacy.
