In 1969, the Playme company of Beniparrell (Valencia) launched its first pencil sharpeners. They quickly gained widespread market acceptance for several reasons: the simple, affordable nature of the product; its usefulness as a pencil sharpener; and the fact that it comes in a variety of models; its attractive presentation; and the collectible miniatures and toys available.

The product was exported around the world. Unfortunately, production finally ceased in the early 1980s.
