«Under the Bourbons between 1700 and 1860, Calabria (southern Italy) with the Royal Ironworks of Mongiana, supplied steel and iron to the entire Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Part of this steel was used for the production of knives, finely crafted and impeccably engraved. . . the 'knife'  was worked in this way because it was the knife of the custom and identity of the Calabrians, who wore it on the waistband of their trousers and showed it with pride and boast"
