Art Deco cubist-style cat bookends by Franjou. These cat bookends are both signed Franjou, made in France, and dated between 1920-1949. These modern-style cats are made of gold patinated metal and have large expressive faces in a classic sitting posture. Both are mounted on matching marble bases.

Throughout the Art Deco period, the cat is always a rather mystical, dynamic, and inspiring figure. Many artists have worked towards rendering the cat, their moods, and mystery.
